When Nick, my personal trainer, told me that he was developing a Web page, I
quickly volunteered to write this testimonial. He did not ask me to do this in other
words. But I would point out that it is his modest style and his genteel manner
coupled with his tremendously good command of exercise physiology that renders
him one of the best personal trainers I have known.

I began with Nick roughly four months ago. I sought his help because exercise was
just not part of my life and I was concerned about my health. I am nearly 54 years
old, I work in a professional capacity and my job is sedentary in nature. Since I
began with Nick, through his expert guidance and graded exercise routines, my
overall level of fitness has vastly improved. I am feeling much healthier now and I
think that I improve after every session. Nick has also shown tremendous patience
when working with people like myself who are not athletic or who are not in top
physical condition. He tailors his exercise routines to his clients’ level of fitness such
that they are challenging but not overdone. Overall, I am grateful for Nick’s help and
I would recommend him to anyone.

Nick Ortego has been my personal trainer for over 4 years, and he has helped me
to significantly improve all aspects of my health. He is very knowledgeable about
strength and aerobic training, nutrition,and meeting special needs and concerns. I
came to Nick after 20+ years of aerobic classes 4 or more times a week when an
injury and a diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia made a
change in my workout routine an absolute necessity.  After consultation, Nick has
helped me with a program designed to address my "conditions" and needs.  He has
done considerable research on his own time on both CFS and FM, and he has
enabled me to maintain my exercise regimen with a program especially designed for

I am an 82 year old woman.  My daughter and I are evacuees from New Orleans
who came to Baton Rouge after Katrina.  We both lost our homes to the flood
waters.  My daughter insisted that I have a personal trainer as soon as possible
after we arrived here.  I had a trainer in New Orleans for several years.  I have had
hip replacement surgery twice, and I had a stroke two years before the storm.  
When I got here, I was unsure of my walking and balance.

Nick was a unique find.  He came to my house two times a week, and instead of
using weights, he creatively made use of the furniture and stairs in the house.  I was
fearful of almost all of his innovations and felt I had a small chance of overcoming
my fears and muscle weakness.  We started off by doing simple motions and,
gradually, seemingly before I knew it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had
improved my strength and my endurance, although it was months that had moved
by quickly.

It has been a year since Nick “bravely took me on”.  Now I look forward to the
sessions, and I feel that the quality of my life has much improved.  My daughter who
is with me in Baton Rouge uses him as her trainer at the YMCA, and my other
daughter, who lives in Oregon, sees him as much as possible when she comes in to
visit us.  Nick is the best personal trainer I have ever had, and I feel we have
become good friends
